1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

A Little Baur Teaser

Now I know some of you guys out there will recognize this car immediately..... but for the rest of us mere mortals .... it is not so easy.

 :)

You can see that it is a BMW 2002 Targa by Baur easily enough but.... hold on a second.... what is it doing with quad headlights?

Hmmm.

Piqued your interest?

OK....

--- a very special 2002ti that had been equipped in ways that no other 2002 had ever been.

--- painted in a variety of non-standard 2002 colors

---equipped with electric steel sliding roofs, leather covered Recaro front seats, black vinyl headliners, velor carpeting and trunk liners, chromed handbrake levers, aluminum tread plates on the door sills, alloy wheels by Stilauto of Italy, Becker stereos, ammeters and clocks, leather binding for the carpets, electric front windows, heated rear windows, 5-speed gearboxes, special exhaust systems, chromed covers for the bumper bolts, Sebring-style driver’s side door mirrors, top tint laminated front windscreens, and a twin headlamp upgrade that was surrounded by hand-made chrome grilles

(Pauses for breath.)

----- the dashboard, gear shift boot, handbrake boot, and the pocketed door panels were all covered in deer hide for the first one

I would show you a pic of the rear, but that is a dead giveaway.   Sorry.

So.... what is it, boys and girls?

;)

Answer?   .... soon come, if nobody guesses it!

Ok. ok.... one more pic...
This one is now a signed original!

Ok, I can't be that mean..... I have posted a clue to the Baur Teaser elsewhere in this blog just now.  It is on a different page.  When you find it, you will know it.
