1982 BMW 323i Baur

1982 BMW 323i Baur
Memorial Day 2010 First Drive 1982 323i BMW Baur Lapisblau M20 5 speed #4154 of 4595 made. The car was imported to California by Dietel Enterprises. I have since changed the wheels, installed the clear turn signal lenses, and I am in the process of installing a new cabriolet roof. I have to do something about those bumpers, too. :) I love this car! To see one of the reasons why, check my post "Score One For the Good Guys" on 6/26/2011.

Found! Another of Jeroen's 25 US Spec E21 Baurs!

We have found another one of the 25 US Spec Baurs from Jeroen's list of the only E21 Baurs officially imported by BMW to North America!

No, wait.... we didn't find it.... Lois, the owner, found US!  I love this stuff!!  Welcome to Baurspotting, Lois R. K.!  And ...... she owns not one, but TWO Baurs!  Whoa! So happy that you found us, Lois!

Here is the full story, so far.  Lois contacted us the other day, saying that she owned a Baur, and wondered if it was one of the ones we were looking for.  She noted that it was a 320i.  Whoa.  I could barely contain my excitement!  If it was really a 320i, then it is most definitely one of the
Baurs we are seeking!  So I requested more info from Lois that would allow us to determine conclusively if this was one of the elusive 25:  the only E21 Baurs known to have been officially imported by BMW to North america.  22 of those 25 went to Canada.

Lois responded with some pics of her Baur, including the Baur plate number:
BINGO!  There it is, folks!  Baur 2362!

Here is Jeroen's list of the 25 US Spec E21 Baurs imported to North America.  Scroll down the Baur Nr. column, and you will see that Lois' 2362 Baur is on the list.  And the color is Polaris!
Allow me to introduce Lois' Baur 2362... and it is, indeed, Polaris!  Double Bingo!

Congratulations and welcome to Baurspotting, Lois!  Lois has sent a couple of other pics:

Here is a pic of the car being sent to the shop.  It has been sitting for a while, and is not starting.  That is not an uncommon issue, and we look forward to hearing more about this Baur!

With 181K on the clock, I would say that this Baur has been well enjoyed!  We can't wait to hear more about it1  And I am sure it has much more life ahead of it!  The odometer on my 1982 323i Baur broke at 242,000 somewhere between 2004 and 2010!  I am sure it over 300k now, and still running strong! I just did the timing belt service, so I am ready for the 2015 season!  181K is nothing!  ;)  Thank you for contacting us, Lois, and we are excited to hear more about this rare item!

Stay tuned, folks!

Added treat:  here is Lois' OTHER Baur:  a 1985 325 TC2.   Lois tells us that this one might be coming up for sale, so stay tuned, folks!    ;)

5 speed, cloth interior.  Lois states that this was a grey market car from Canada.  According to Jeroen Janssen, Baur Guru from The Netherlands, if this is Bronzitbeige, it is one of only 3 Bronzitbeige 325i Baurs built with a manual transmission!

Lois may be the owner of TWO rare Baurs!
Not sure if this is in kilometers or miles.

Congratulations again to Lois, and we look forward to learning more..... such as, how did Lois come to be in possession of two Baurs like this?   Curious minds want to know!  ;)

Stay tuned, folks!
